About the model software

What it does

The software currently comprises a simple stochastic model. There is a fixed set of inputs hard-coded into the program. The program generates outputs in the form of logs and results files.

Overview of components

• Java program and framework of useful classes for future development
• R/Java interface package called WrapR that allows Java to run R code
• R code that executes certain calculations as part of the whole program

Roadmap/prerequisites for running or developing the model

For end users who don't want to do any development

• Install the java runtime environment from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
• Install R version 2.4.2 from www.r-project.org
• More to come here

For end users might like to do R development but not Java

You should be able to get everything working in about 1-2 hours by following the steps below.

• Install NetBeans 5.5 and JDK cobundle (from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp)
• Get the model software (ModelSoftwareGetIt)
• Configure it for your PC (ModelSoftwareSetUp)
• Run it (ModelSoftwareRun)

For the open source development team
